Mother Frances Hospital traces its beginnings to the arrival of the nursing sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth order in Tyler in 1937. Today‚ the hospital they helped launch is a 350-bed‚ state-of-the-art facility that is one of two hospitals and 32 local clinics comprising the Trinity Mother Frances Health Care System.
MFH‚ a Level-II trauma center‚ is renowned for its 24-hour emergency services‚ a comprehensive Heart Institute and highly recognized cancer treatment programs. Its 20-bed pediatric facility at the Children’s Center provides a special healing environment for sick children and their families.
Recently‚ Mother Frances Hospital’s Center for Advanced Surgery and Technology was designated a regional robotic surgery training site‚ serving a five-state area.
East Texas Medical Center Tyler has also garnered kudos recently‚ having been named among the 100 Top Hospitals in the country in a study published in Modern Healthcare magazine in 2005.
ETMC Tyler‚ founded in 1951‚ works with area hospitals and medical mini-systems to provide specialty diagnosis and care as well as follow-up for patients when they return to their home communities.
The center boasts 467 active medical staff‚ whose specialties include everything from anesthesiology to vascular surgery. Among its special services are the ETMC Neurological Institute‚ the ETMC Cancer Institute‚ Level I trauma services‚ a kidney transplant program‚ acute care rehab‚ cardiovascular care‚ day surgery and state-of-the-art diagnostic services.
